This ganglion lies over the inferior thyreoid artery, behind the carotid sheath, and opposite the cricoid cartilage.
(a) Central. (1) Grey rami communicantes, to the anterior primary divisions of the fifth and sixth cervicals.
(2) Ansa subclavia, a loop connecting the middle and inferior cervical ganglia.
(b) Peripheral. (1) Middle cardiac, extends to the deep cardiac plexus.
(2) Thyreoid, to the thyreoid body.
