Filling and frosting for three 8rinch layers or two 9-inch layers.
1/4 cup Swift'ning 1 1/3 cups brown sugar 2 tablespoons corn sirup 1/3 cup milk 1/4 teaspoon salt.
1 2/3 cups sifted confectioner's sugar.
2 tablespoons hot milk 1 teaspoon vanilla.
Combine brown sugar, corn sirup, milk, and salt in heavy pan and cook until mixture forms a soft ball when tried in cold water (234° F.). Cool mixture until it reaches room temperature. Cream Swift'ning until soft and fluffy. Add confectioner's sugar and milk. Beat until smooth. Add cooled sirup mixture and vanilla to Swift'ning mixture and beat until icing is smooth and creamy.
