This is a sweet that children are particularly fond of, as jam enters into its composition.

A few dessert apples, strawberry jam, a little brown sugar, butter.

Core the apples and fill the cavity with a little strawberry jam. Place the apples on a baking-tin with a few lumps of butter, sprinkle them with brown sugar and also put a little brown sugar in the tin. Put the apples in a moderate oven for about three-quarters of an hour, till they are well browned, basting frequently. Dish up and pour the syrup around them.
