Here is another very delicious " fruit sweet," which is also refreshing in summer.
Oranges, 1 lb. lump sugar, 5 tablespoons of water.
Peel the oranges carefully, and cut them in thin slices, removing the pips. Make a syrup, as in the preceding recipe (but without the egg) and not so thick. Put the oranges in this, and also a few pieces of the orange peel cut in strips. Simmer gently for about 20 minutes to half an hour. Set aside to cool and serve very cold in a glass dish.
