1 pound Swift'ning for deep fat frying.

1 cup milk.

1/2 cup flour.

3 Spanish onions.

1 1/2 teaspoons salt.

Heat Swift'ning slowly, in deep kettle, to 350° F. (Cube of bread browns in 60 seconds.) Peel and slice Spanish onions 1/4-inch thick. Separate rings. Dip into milk, then into flour and salt which have been sifted together. Fry a few onion rings at a time in hot Swift'ning until golden brown, 5 to 7 minutes. Drain well over kettle, then place on tray covered with absorbent paper. Serve hot.
