The central or northern doors leading to the floor of the House of Representatives form the southern terminus of the main corridor of the Capitol. Through this long interior vista, incase all doors are opened and obstructions removed, the Vice-President of the United States and the Speaker of the House can see, but not recognize, each other, while presiding over their respective legislative bodies at the two ends of the Capitol.
