3-4 pounds Beef Brisket.

Potatoes.

Onions.

Carrots.

Cabbage or Turnips Salt and Pepper.

Cut up onions and add to the meat which has been covered with cold water. Add salt and pepper, boil for 4 or 5 hours, or until meat is very tender. In separate pan cook the potatoes and carrots together and in another the cabbage or turnips. Serve with meat sliced in the center of a large platter and the vegetables arranged around it. Thicken the broth from the meat with flour and serve half of it plain, seasoned with salt and pepper. To the other half add a bottle of prepared horseradish; this is delicious with the boiled meat.
